Rushkoff - Choice Grid

Choice Grid

Role: Writer, director

Skills: screenwriting, directing, project management, communication

For our capstone class Issues and Ethics in Electronic Media, we were instructed to adapt a chapter from Douglass Rushkoff’s book Program or Be Programmed. My group choose “Choice.” Rushkoff argued that “the digital realm is biased towards choice, because everything must be expressed in terms of discrete, yes-or-no, symbolic language” and because of this, we are forced to make more choices than ever before. In our project, John Martinez, Ben Possehl, and I investigated a world in which computers ran our lives and took away our power of choice. As the writer and director of this project, I utilized my strong oral and written communication skills to properly illustrate my ideas and put them onto paper and eventually the screen.
